The Center for Scientific and Technological Equipment, Walailak University, co-organized the National Children’s Day 2026 activities at the Walailak University Botanic Park on January 10, 2026.
- Walailak University, in collaboration with its partner networks, organized the National Children’s Day 2026 on Saturday, 10 January 2026, under the theme “My Children’s Day… The Magical University City.”
- The event aimed to provide children and youth with opportunities to learn closely from the university’s learning resources, inspire them, and promote the development of life skills alongside moral and ethical values, within the framework of fostering awareness of “Love Thailand, Care for the World.”
- The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Prasong Chanhyu, District Chief of Tha Sala. Associate Professor Dr. Suwit Wutthisutthimethee, Vice President for Strategic Planning and Good Governance of Walailak University, delivered the welcoming remarks.
- The ceremony was attended by the university’s executive team, staff, and representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as parents, students, children, and youth—totalling more than 1,000 participants. The event took place at the Bussarakam Conference Room, within the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum (SIRIN Museum), Walailak University.
- On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Suwit Wutthisutthimethee emphasized the university’s role as a learning hub for society. The university has established a Botanical Garden in response to the royal initiative under the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative (RSPG), and has developed an area of over 1,350 rai into a center for the collection, conservation, research, and utilization of natural resources. It also serves as an important learning and eco-tourism destination in southern Thailand.
- The Children’s Day event this year aimed to provide young people with opportunities to experience leading learning resources, such as the SIRIN Museum, the Sky Tower, the Wildlife Breeding Center, and various plant conservatories. These activities align with the Green University policy and the National Children’s Day 2026 slogan, “Love Thailand, Care for the World,” which seeks to nurture children and youth to grow into global citizens with environmental awareness and a readiness to learn for a sustainable future.
- This year’s event was made possible through collaboration among more than 30 partner organizations, both within and outside the university, including the Fourth Army Area, Tha Sala–Nakhon Si Thammarat Rotary Club, Nakhon Si Thammarat Primary Educational Service Area Office 4, Krungthai Bank, and the Government Savings Bank. The event featured highlight activities that combined fun with scientific and technological knowledge.
- During the event, children and youth participated in a variety of learning-station activities, performances, and creative programs, and also visited key learning resources within the university, including the SIRIN Museum, the Observatory, the Wildlife Breeding Center, the Small Animal Hospital, and the Botanical Garden. These activities align with the objectives of the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Plant Genetic Conservation Project (RSPG) and the Green University policy, aiming to instill environmental awareness and promote value-based learning among young people in a tangible and meaningful way.
- As a unit under Walailak University, The Center for Scientific and Technological Equipment participated in organizing this year’s National Children’s Day activities.
