Walailak University Scientist Showcases “Lepao: The Vine of Local Wisdom” at the Show and Share Platform, Held from 30 April to 1 May 2026.
- Mrs. Peerada Pakdeepin, Scientist, Professional Level, from The Center for Scientific and Technological Equipment, Walailak University, represented the Center at the “Show and Share” activity, presenting research and academic service projects supported by the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG-WU) for the Fiscal Year 2025.
- The event was held from 30 April to 1 May 2026 at Infinity Conference Room, Natural History Museum, Walailak University.
- On this occasion, she presented the project entitled “Academic Service Project on Yan Lipao: A Vine of Local Wisdom and the Cultural Value of Nakhon Si Thammarat.” The project was successfully completed in Fiscal Year 2025, with Assistant Professor Dr. Phuwadon Bangrak serving as the project advisor.
- The project was supported by the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Walailak University (RSPG-WU).
- The project focused on the conservation and further development of local wisdom in Yan Lipao weaving and basketry in Tha Ruea Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The project involved collecting and documenting traditional patterns from the Yan Lipao Handicraft Center, which represents an important cultural identity of the local community. The project was implemented under three main frameworks, as follows:
- 1) Resource Learning Framework
- 2) Resource Utilization Framework
- 3) Resource Conservation Awareness Framework
- The project also organized special activities to preserve and pass on local wisdom, with local community knowledge holders sharing their expertise through the “Local Wisdom Volunteer Teacher Project.” In addition, online learning materials were developed to expand access to knowledge and promote the continued learning, preservation, and transmission of local wisdom in a sustainable manner.
- The project reflects the integration of research-based knowledge into academic services, with a focus on conserving, revitalizing, and enhancing the value of local wisdom while fostering active community participation. This integrated approach contributes to sustainable development and the long-term preservation of local cultural heritage.
