- The Center for Scientific and Technological Equipment, Walailak University Congratulations to Miss Yuwakorn Siripittaya, Scientist at the Center for Scientific and Technological Equipment, Walailak University, on the publication of her research article in Pharmaceutical Sciences Asia, Volume 53, Issue 3 (2026), pp. 394–408, in which she is the First Author, entitled:
- “Development of diclofenac and metronidazole thermoresponsive mucoadhesive in situ gel for periodontal drug delivery”
- This research work was conducted through a collaboration among the research team, comprising Miss. Yuwakorn Siripittaya, Professor Dr. Thawatchai Phaechamud, Assistant Professor Dr. Kritchamon Jittrangsee, Assistant Professor Ekkachai Damkliang, Mr. Kittiphon Chantra-arpa, Mr. Jatuphat Anukul, Mr. Nattanon Sri-on, Miss Zurainee Hayeemasae, Miss Sirihan Nuereng, Miss Nurusma Dueramae, and Mr. Natthakit Wahab.
- Key Research Findings
- This research aimed to develop a thermoresponsive mucoadhesive in situ gel as a localized drug delivery system for the management of periodontal disease. The formulation incorporates diclofenac and metronidazole to provide both anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects, while enhancing drug retention and enabling sustained drug release within the periodontal pocket.
- The results showed that the developed formulation was capable of continuously releasing both drugs for up to 24 hours, demonstrating the potential of this drug delivery system for future applications in the treatment and management of periodontal disease.
- Another source of pride for the Center for Scientific and Technological Equipment, Walailak University, in promoting and supporting its staff in the creation of research works and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of science and pharmaceutical sciences at the academic level.
