Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University presided over the celebration of success On the occasion that Walailak University has 450 teachers who have been certified by the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) for teaching and supporting quality learning as the most in Thailand. 95.88 each to all instructors who meet the eligibility criteria. Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, said that the quality of education depends on many factors. One of the most important factors is the teaching process or teaching method that teachers use to transfer knowledge to students. The teaching and learning of Thailand has long been criticized for the importance of rote learning. As a result, Thai students lack the skills of thinking, analyzing, and synthesizing. However, teaching at Walailak University is not so because we are fortunate to work with Professor Dr. Wijit Srisa-arn who is a highly regarded academician. One of the best in the field of higher education in Thailand and while he was the chairman of the Walailak University Council He introduced management to UKPSF.
Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong added that Teaching reform at Walailak University was one of the first things he had thought of since he became president of Walailak University in 2016. At that time, he was looking for a teaching model that could promote learning. students’ knowledge And abolish rote teaching and answer that UKPSF is a teaching and learning framework that encourages students to practice thinking and doing. It has also been developed and recognized internationally. UKPSF also contributes to the development of professional teaching process concepts. This allows teachers to monitor students’ learning outcomes more closely. It also supports students’ learning. by focusing on individualized learning outcomes This kind of learning assessment is important in promoting cognitive thinking. Therefore, the UKPSF framework makes the learning and teaching process of Walailak University quality. to move towards a university of quality.
Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong further said that We would like to thank the team of experts from Advance Higher Education , Miss Kathy Wright , Associate Professor Andy Hudson and Mr. Ian Hall for their dedication and contributions in making the teaching and learning process of Walailak University go global. Since 2017 Kathy and Andy has organized workshops for the faculty of Walailak University in 4 groups and since then The university held so-called “Pre-UKPSF” training for teachers who were not in the first four groups. As a result, virtually none of the teachers failed the UKPSF process test. Walailak University’s teaching and learning has changed in accordance with UKPSF teaching principles.
Currently, more than 90% of the total number of 450 professors at Walailak University Have passed all qualifications and have been accepted by HEA fellowships This can demonstrate a significant milestone and success of Walailak University’s teaching and learning process model. which makes all Walailak people proud.
